Project DetailsApplication and configuration
This project is located in Guizhou, China. The customer processes zinc ingots and needs to convert the solid ingots into zinc powder of approximately 100 mesh. Because the ingots are too large to feed directly into the downstream metal powder grinding equipment, the project uses a two-stage process: pretreatment with a metal ingot chipping machine, followed by fine grinding in a metal powder grinding mill.
For the pretreatment stage, a TYXX600 Metal Ingot Chipping Machine reduces the zinc ingots to smaller chips measuring 3–6 mm, making the material more suitable for grinding. The zinc chips are then fed into a metal powder grinding mill to produce the required 100-mesh zinc powder.
During actual operation, the TYXX600 achieves a chipping capacity of approximately 200 kg/h, while the downstream grinding stage produces approximately 150 kg/h. This meets the customer's requirements for zinc ingot chipping and powder production.
The key process sequence is:
Zinc ingots → Metal chipping → Metal powder grinding → 100-mesh zinc powder
The two stages work together so that each machine performs the processing task best suited to its operating characteristics.
Why use a metal ingot chipping machine before producing zinc powder?
Zinc ingots are generally large, solid pieces of metal. A metal powder grinding mill is better suited to smaller pieces, granules or metal chips within its specified feed-size range. Adding a metal ingot chipping machine upstream therefore reduces the feedstock size before grinding.
In this project, the TYXX600 mechanically cuts the solid zinc ingots into smaller zinc chips. After chipping, the zinc material:
• Has a substantially smaller feed size;
• Is easier to convey and feed;
• Is more suitable for the metal powder grinding mill;
• Reduces the processing load that would result from feeding large ingots directly into the mill;
• Supports a more appropriate continuous powder-production process.
For further size reduction of zinc, aluminum, lead and copper ingots, as well as other solid metal feedstocks, a metal ingot chipping machine can serve as an important pretreatment stage before powder grinding.
The actual zinc-processing route used in this project is:
Zinc ingots → TYXX600 Metal Ingot Chipping Machine → Zinc chips → Metal Powder Grinding Mill → 100-mesh zinc powder
